Job Description

We are Agata & Valentina, one of NYC’s Premier specialty food companies, and are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles/concepts and practices. The Senior Accountant will be supporting the Controller and Assistant Controller. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and familial environment where your contributions will directly support our financial operations and strategic growth.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily operations of the accounting department with a strong focus on Accounts Payable and Costing
  • Review the account payable process and perform daily duties including reconciling vendor’s statements, prepare journal entries and perform bank reconciliations to ensure a timely monthly closing
  • Update and maintain monthly closing schedules
  • Update various financial charts and analysis
  • Conduct cash flow analysis
  • Ensure that the company is adhering to cash management and audit policies and procedures
  • Special projects as needed

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in a retail, food, or consumer goods environment
  • Strong experience in Accounts Payable, Cost Accounting, and Month-End Close processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and well versed in the use of accounting software
  • Experience in inventory management and food costing is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts and reporting standards
  • Experience in public accounting a plus
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
